At the beginning of the year, when we were planning to introduce the Luckyman brand to our city, we asked ourselves what we could do to bring the creative community together, vibe out and exchange energy. First, we had to figure out where to start. We had some ideas, but nothing concrete. So our homie, the triple OG, Adrian Aitcheson, introduced us to Ballmatics Academy's owners Dave and Claudia. Out of a chance encounter, we found ourselves with an opportunity to host a weekly pick-up run in arguably the best-looking court in the downtown core. We got some jerseys made in a week and booked the gym for a Sunday evening. Some were old friends or from past runs, but there was one thing they had in common—they all loved basketball.

We met at the gym every Sunday evening for the next few months to hoop. Yes, it was a pick-up game. But for many of us, the court was our church, and the run was our Sunday Service. Word spread quickly about this community we were bringing together - creatives, makers and doers. Mark Starkey (founder of Victory Creative and owner of SLAM Canada) took notice when he reached out to find out what Luckyman was about.

The big homie showed us love right off the jump. We've always had mutual respect for each of our camps as we built Inquiringmind Magazine (2005-2014) back when he and Mario started Victory Creative. So our ties go way back. So, after a few back-and-forth conversations, they showed love and stepped up in a big way to sponsor, Underdogs, our weekly pick-up run. So, here we are, SLAM Canada and Victory Creative, partnering with Luckyman on a weekly pick-up run that uses basketball to bring together the creative community of Toronto. Growing up, SLAM was the basketball bible for us, so it's wild to think that we actually partnered with the same brand that inspired us growing up.
